iMovie: the new version that runs on Mac OS-X Yosemite and above

iMovie is the free video editing application that comes with all Macintosh computers. These classes are for the first time iMovie user as well as those who have upgraded Operating Systems or have a new Mac, as the new iMovie interface and way of working have changed. There is also a Mobile Version of iMovie for the iPhone and iPad.

Class 1: We will cover the basic interface of iMovie and show various ways to import video into the Events, show how clips are organized and how to start a project. We will select clips for the project and use transitions and titles. Music enhances a project, so we will add background music. As a final touch we will cover making a quick, short and fun Movie Trailer using preset themes.

Class 2: We will work with ways to edit and stabilize video clips. Then we will add still photos into the project. Did you know you could actually record video using the computer camera? This is called “Live Action” and can be used in your video. We will work more with audio; adding music in a different way, detaching audio from a clip to use in another location, adding sound effects and recording voice-overs. In the end we will cover ways to finalize and share videos.

Class 3: For those who have iPhone and/or iPad running iOS 9.3 or later, you can download iMovie from the App Store, so you can create movies and Movie Trailers on the go. We will look at working with both of these in this class. These versions aren’t as powerful as the Mac version, but still fun to use.
