June 2021 CAMERA CLUB NEWSLETTER

June 2021

From the Board...

As we roll into Summer many of our members have returned home or are now traveling as the Covid-19 restrictions are easing.

However, your camera club continues to offer learning opportunities. Special Interest Group (SIG) hosts continue to offer SIG activities on Zoom. The following SIG sessions are available to you each week:

Monday at 10:00 am - Multimedia SIG

Monday at 1:30 pm – Studio and Fine Art Photography SIG

Tuesday at 1:30 pm – Black and White SIG

Wednesday at 9:30 am – Photoshop CC/Lightroom CC SIG

Wednesday at 1:30 pm – Bird Photography SIG

Thursday at 9:30 am – Photoshop Elements SIG

Friday at 9:00 am – Rebel Rousers SIG

If you would like to participate in any of these SIG sessions, you can register to receive a Zoom invite on the Club’s Calendar site. Once the Club opens, our plans are to offer the SIG sessions in-person and on Zoom.

We are still awaiting final protocols from GVR for our planned Monday July 12th opening. Covid-19 restrictions are fluid and appear to be changing weekly. As far as we can tell as of this writing, we will open the Club as planned. Monitors will receive refresher training to consider GVR requirements and safety.

Currently the mask policy aligns with Pima County’s as follows:

1.  Masks or social distancing are not required for fully vaccinated individuals, although they may choose to maintain both.

2.  It is recommended that unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals continue to wear masks and maintain social distancing.

3.  Vaccination status is not a criterion for participation, and GVR does not require proof or attestation of vaccination of any illness, including Covid-19.

4.  We will continue to wipe down equipment after use.

5.   Capacity will increase in classrooms and meeting rooms with extra space being included to accommodate those who prefer or should maintain social distancing.

Members, as always, participate at their own risk. Members must make their own assessment of risk based on their circumstances and tolerance. Please note that as of May 17, the percentage of vaccinated individuals in zip codes 85614 and 85622 was over 80%.

We look forward to getting activities back to normal as we move forward with Club opening preparations. Stay safe, travel safely, and know we are doing all we can to bring you the best in photo education and field trip opportunities.

Danny Valenzuela, Interim President

Photo of the Month

The June Photo of the Month is by Wally Watson titled Little Cowboy. It makes me remember when...... Congratulations, Wally.

Members, please note: Our Photo of the Month is selected from the collection of photos that are submitted for our Facebook Photo of the Day series. This collection is getting depleted and we need your support to keep us supplied so we can continue to feature your creative work for all the members to enjoy. Please take some time during the Summer break and choose one or a few of the best of your work and send them to me at jmp7741@gmail.com.

Thanks!

Judy Pollard, POD/POM Coordinator

The Photo of the Month is chosen from the Photo of the Day series published on the Club's Facebook page from the 26th of the previous month to the 25th of last month. Keep sending the best of your work to Judith Pollard at jmp7741@gmail.com.

This Month's Club Activities

With the exception of the on-line Zoom SIG meetings the Camera Club remains closed and in-person club activities remain suspended. Plans are in place to reopen the Club facilities in July and resume in-person SIG meetings for those still meeting over the Summer break. We all look forward to getting back to normal times.

Please check the club calendar here for the latest information on future club activities.

      Monitor Notes

Help us provide all the benefits the Club offers to its members by volunteering as a monitor. As you take advantage of the Club's activities and its extensive digital processing equipment, consider sharing the effort in providing these services by volunteering as a monitor.

Monitors typically check in club members, answer the phone, and welcome those seeking information about the Club. You are not expected to know how to use the equipment. Training takes about an hour.
