Tucson Windows and Doors Walking Tour 3/3/2023

Cost - FREE!!

This FREE trip will be led by Patty Ferguson and Linda Gregory.  Linda has experienced this trip at least a dozen times since 2009.  Much has changed, but some has stayed the same.  What has changed are the very strict parking regulations which is why this trip is being held on a Sunday.  We are requesting that you carpool due to very limited parking.

We will visit several areas in the iconic Barrio Viejo.  You will see how gentrification has affected this barrio with many new buildings amidst the older ones that may have been there for a hundred years or more.  There are several wonderful murals scattered throughout the barrio.  You’ll see Carmen Teatro in its early stages of renovation, a heart-warming sign that the old is not totally lost. 

We will then move to the El Presidio district to see two more areas, one of which contains the most photographed door in Tucson.  Due to having no parking available to visitors, we will drive through the last street.

We’ll lunch at the El Charro Café (at your expense), the oldest continuously family run Mexican restaurant in the US.  Patty and Linda can attest to the wonderful food available there.

Following lunch you can decide whether you want to walk back to the area we drove through for your photographs.

Meet at the Photography Club parking lot at 8:30 AM, and depart at 8:45 AM. Expected return time of 3:30 is approximate.  $5.00 is an appropriate amount for those carpooling, for the driver.

GVR requires that every person participating in club's field trips sign a one-time waiver absolving GVR of any liability.  You will be required to sign the waiver at the Photography Club before the trip departs if you haven’t signed one earlier in the year.

Last day to cancel registration is February 25, 2024.

Notice: All participants need to be responsible for an assessment of their mobility and health issues relating to field trips. Some trips may not be appropriate, but you must make that determination. However, the trip leader may deny participation in a specific field trip to anyone deemed not suitably prepared or able to walk with the group.

The club strives to provide several field trips specifically designed for members with physical limitations. 

In order to participate in this event, you must be a member of the GVR Photography Club and GVR.
