Bird Photography: Anza Trail around Tumacacori Mission/Hawk Walk in Tubac

Trip Cost $12

The Park’s lands include rare types of southwestern forest located along the Santa Cruz River. Some bird species found in these and other local habitats are not usually seen in other places in this country, and are part of the reason why visiting southern Arizona is on many birders' bucket lists. The group will travel on fairly level ground throughout the park's varied habitats.

We will then travel to Ron Morris Park in Tubac. Every March three species of hawks -- black, gray and zone-tailed - migrate north on the Santa Cruz River. Tubac is said to be the easiest and most likely place to see them.

The trip will be led by bird and nature expert, Sandy McMahan, who is a long-time teacher and trip leader. Whether you're an expert birder/photographer or a beginner, you will enjoy Sandy's narratives. If you have binoculars, you may want to bring them along. A small notebook and pen or pencil would be useful to record your sightings.

Bring a lunch and be sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. A hat and water are suggested.

Meet at the Camera Club at 7:30 AM for carpooling. We will leave for Tumacacori Mission at 7:45 AM.
