Tucson Auto MuseumTM -- Tuesday 3/25/2025
Trip Cost $15.00
CALLING ALL CAR BUFFS -- BE AMONG THE FIRST . . .
to explore the Tucson Auto Museum’s new and expanded location on Sabino Canyon Road. We’ll have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to check out the museum’s expansive car collection and automotive exhibits before it opens to the public. The museum features one of Southern Arizona's largest and most diverse collections of award-winning classic, sporty, and unique cars and automobilia from all over the world under one roof.
This will be the Photography Club’s first field trip to the museum’s new and expanded location at 4825 North Sabino Canyon Road. We will have the museum all to ourselves, so use of tripods and flash equipment won’t be a problem. And because of its expanded size, not only is there more room between the vehicles on display (a nice touch for photographers) but there’s also places to sit and relax – something that was lacking in their old facility. We’ll have about 2 ½ hours to enjoy the museum, so there’ll be plenty of time for you to compose the perfect shots.
We’ll meet at the Photography Club upper-level parking lot at 8:15 AM for carpooling, departure at 8:30. Please wear your GVR Photography Club or Camera Club badge if you have one. For those carpooling, $10.00 is an appropriate contribution to the driver.
Upon arrival, we will be met by museum staff who will provide a brief overview of the museum. Afterwards, you’re welcome to explore and photograph the museum’s many exhibits. We will have the museum all to ourselves. Use of tripods and flash equipment is permitted. The tour should end around noon.
The tour could involve extensive walking and standing, but there is seating available throughout the facility.
Additional information about the Tucson Auto Museum is available here.
Following the tour, participants are invited to a no-host lunch at Inca's Peruvian Cuisine, located at 6878 East Sunrise Drive in Tucson. You can check out their menu here. The trip should end about 1:30 PM and we should be back in Green Valley around 3:00 PM.
Tom Parker will be our trip leader. Contact Tom at 618-304-1456 or tparker324@aol.com with any questions. He will be disseminating more information to registered participants via e-mail as we get closer to the event.
GVR requires that every person participating in club's field trips must sign a waiver absolving GVR of any liability. You will be required to sign the waiver at the Photography club before the trip departs.
