Nature/Bird Photography: Sweetwater   Wetlands/Columbus Park

Cost: $12

Date has been changed to 1-31 because of rain.

Sweetwater Wetlands is the top birding area in the Tucson metro area. This water-rich streamside riparian zone supports a huge variety of wildlife, including dragonflies, raccoons, hawks, bobcats and dozens of other species that make the wetlands their full- or part-time home.  Paths are flat and either decomposed granite or gravel.

If you have binoculars, you may want to bring them along. A small notebook and pen or pencil would be useful to record your sightings.

Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. A hat and water are suggested.  Bring your lunch so you can spend as much time as you want observing birds and activities that weren't visible when the reeds were very high.

Meet at the Camera Club at 8 AM for carpooling.  If you don't feel comfortable carpooling, you can drive yourself.  We will leave for Sweetwater at 8:15 AM.  Please wear your GVR Camera Club badge if you have one.

Because the Camera Club is still not officially open, GVR is requiring that every person participating in club's field trips must sign a waiver absolving GVR of any liability.  Please bring your signed waiver with you when we gather for the trip. GVR is requiring that we provide them with the signed waivers as well as a list of field trip attendees.

To cancel your registration contact Field Trip Facilitator at philr@iname.com.  Last date for refund is January 18, 2021.

All participants need to be responsible for an assessment of their mobility and health issues relating to field trips. Some trips may not be appropriate, but you must make that determination. However, the trip leader may deny participation in a specific field trip to anyone deemed not suitably prepared or able to walk with the group.

The club strives to provide several field trips specifically designed for members with physical limitations.
