Royce Bair - Photographing Milky Way NightScapes

For over two decades, Royce Bair has had a wide variety of assignments as a magazine and illustrative advertising photographer. Although he’s enjoyed working with companies like IBM and General Motors, and to have national magazines use his images, he finds as much satisfaction helping other photographers achieve their creative vision through his writings, international lectures, and workshops.

As a former photography gallery owner and curator, Royce has helped scores of photographers showcase and sell their fine art photography. From 1984 through 2007, his Stock Solution photo agency aided hundreds of photographers in editing, distributing and licensing their stock photos to publishers and corporations, worldwide.

During the past decade, Royce's focus has been on a new style of night photography he calls “NightScapes”: Starry night skies with a landscape feature —many of which are light painted to enhance recognition. His unique astro-landscapes have caught the attention of National Geographic editors, and they have received worldwide syndication through The Huffington Post. Mr. Bair is currently the director of the annual NightScaper Conference, where over 300 like-minded photographers come together each year to network and learn about all types night photography.
