Bird Photography: Sweetwater/Reid Park

Trip Cost $11

We will start our trip at the Sweetwater Wetlands, the top birding area in the Tucson metro area. This water-rich streamside riparian zone supports a huge variety of wildlife, including dragonflies, raccoons, hawks, bobcats and dozens of other species that make the wetlands their full- or part-time home. Paths are flat and either decomposed granite or gravel.

We will then drive to Reid Park, an easily-accessed area in the city, where we will have our lunch at the picnic area and watch and photograph around the two ponds. It is one of the best places to see winter ducks and raptors

The trip will be led by bird and nature expert, Sandy McMahan, who is a long-time teacher and trip leader. Whether you're an expert birder/photographer or a beginner, you will enjoy Sandy's narratives. If you have binoculars, you may want to bring them along. A small notebook and pen or pencil would be useful to record your sightings.

Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. A hat and water are suggested.

Meet at the Camera Club at 8 AM for carpooling. We will leave for Sweetwater at 8:15 AM. Bring your lunch.
